Lubbock Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Lubbock Professional Police Association hosted a celebration on November 7th to commemorate their 25th Anniversary. Over two hundred members and family members as well as the Chief, City Attorney, and past Presidents and Board Members were in attendance for the gala event to receive awards given by LPPA President Brandon Price. "This ceremony marks just another milestone for the Association and we plan on being here another twenty-five years from now." Stated President Price. Region 5 Director Aaron Smith who was also at the event said, " The LPPA has a history of being a resilient organization who keeps plugging away until they achieve their goal whatever that may be." Field Services Director Dwight Tiller and Region 5 Field Services Representative Chris McGill were also given what President Price named the 24/7 awards. One of the unique scenarios was the presence of Bobby D. Price the first president of the LPPA with his son President Brandon Price the current president of the LPPA.

Major LPPA accomplishments:
Lobbied city to move 5% TMRS contribution to 6% one year later went up to 7% Lobbied for 25 year retirement to be changed to 20 year
2007 LPPA had shift differential implemented
2008 LPPA had certificate pay implemented
2010 LPPA lobbied and received a 5% pay raise and assisted other city employees in getting a 3% pay increase
LPPA has accumulated over &110,000 to the LPPA bank account since 2006
